Getting started
From your first payment to your first article on WordPress, step by step. Set aside about 15 minutes.
Before you start
- An active SEO Autopilot plan (you can see it under Plan & billing in the dashboard)
- Administrator access to your WordPress site
- About 15 minutes
The whole setup
From the plugin to your first article
- 1
Download the plugin
Click the button above to download
bi-seo-autopilot.zip. Keep it zipped: WordPress installs the zip as it is. - 2
Install it in WordPress
In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, click Install Now and then Activate Plugin. Stuck? See the detailed installation guide.
- 3
Copy your site key
Go to Settings → SEO Autopilot and click Copy next to the site key. Treat it like a password.
- 4
Connect your site
Open the dashboard, click + Add site, choose WordPress, enter your site address, paste the key and click Connect site. We then read your public pages for a few minutes to learn what you do and how you write.
- 5
Find your keywords
Open your site in the dashboard, go to Keywords and click Keyword research. You get searches you have a real chance of ranking for, grouped into topics. Bin anything that isn't relevant and you won't see it again.
- 6
Set your schedule
Under Schedule, choose Articles per week, the Publish hour (site time), and whether articles arrive with Send as draft or go live with Publish on WordPress. To check the first few yourself, start with drafts.
- 7
Fill the calendar
Add the keywords you want to the calendar. Open Calendar to see what goes up when, and move or remove anything. Nothing is written unless it's on the calendar.
- 8
Review your first article
Each article is written ahead of its date and checked against the 21 rules. Drafts appear in WordPress under Posts, with the title, description and keyword already filled in your SEO plugin. Edit if you like, then publish.
- 9
Connect Google (optional)
In the dashboard, click Connect Google to link Google Search Console. Your monthly report then shows the clicks your articles bring in.
What happens next
- Articles are written and uploaded on the days and at the hour you set, up to your plan's monthly limit.
- Once an article is published, we notify search engines through IndexNow.
- Every month you get a report of what was published and how it's doing.
- You can pause publishing, change the schedule or switch plans at any time from the dashboard.
